For a limited time, you can earn 10x United miles per dollar spent with Marriott in addition to the normal Marriott points you’d get just by booking your next Marriott stay through United’s shopping portal.
Shopping portals are a great way to earn extra points and miles for shopping you’d already do. All you have to do is click through the portal and go about your shopping. A few travel companies, including Marriott, allow you to earn cash-back or miles when booking a flight or hotel through a shopping portal.
The United shopping portal, as well as a few others, have raised their rates from the normal 1x/2x miles per dollar spent to up to 10x miles with Marriott:
Given TPG’s valuations of United miles at 1.4 cents each, you’ be earning a fantastic 14% return from just those miles. The best part is, unlike other websites like Rocket Miles that will dole out points or miles for booking a prepaid stay through its website — these bookings are direct with Marriott — so you’ll still earn Marriott points and elite credits on your stay, too. It should even be stackable with other Marriott promotions, like its double points promo or bonus elite nights deal.
Both American’s and Delta’s shopping portals also are offering up increased offers although not as enticing as United’s. 6x American miles (8.4% return) and 4x Delta miles (4.8% return) when booking through the respective airlines’ portals:
If you are booking a Marriott hotel, make sure to use a credit card that earns bonus points for either Marriott or travel purchases. The Chase Sapphire Reserve and Citi Premier Card are great options if you don’t have a Marriott Bonvoy cobranded card, all of which offer 6x points on Marriott purchases.
Now through April 24, the Marriot Bonvoy Brilliant American Express Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Business American Express® Card are offering 100,000-point welcome bonuses after spending $5,000 in the first three months.
